A five star showing from midfielder Anthony Nevin inspired Moynalty to a five point win over Kilbride in the LMFM sponsored Minor Football Championship Division 5 final played in ideal conditions at Pairc Tailteann.

Nevin opened the scoring with a fine point but Kilbride aiming for their first ever minor championship title responded in style with a well taken goal from lively corner forward Joseph Donnelly.

The two 11's Fiachra Gallagher (Moynalty) and Cadhla McKenna (Kilbride) traded points before the North Meath club enjoyed a spell of dominance.

Nevin sent over his second point, his midfield partner Pauric O'Connor added another to level matters before Nevin gave the boys in Red and White the lead after 15 minutes.

Kilbride, playing with the breeze woke from their slumber and replied with 4 unanswered points through McKenna, Donnelly and the impressive David O'Leary (2) to go back in to the lead.

Nevin and Donnelly traded points as Kilbride went in at the break with a goal cushion 1-6 to 0-6.

Backed by the elements Moynalty stormed out of the blocks in the opening 15 minutes of the second half. The eventual winners got the perfect start with a Pete Rogers goal and they followed this up with four unanswered points from Nevin (2) and centre back James Cassidy (2) to open up a 1-10 to 1-6 lead.

Kilbride had to wait till the 16th minute  for there first score, substitute Conor Doyle sending over. Donnelly (2) and Conor Storey reduced the lead to two as the game entered the last ten minutes.

But for the remainder of the game it was all Moynalty. A brace from Nevin put out any hopes of a Kilbride comeback and further points from Catahl Reilly and Cassidy closed out a very entertaining game.
