O'Mahonys  1-10 Skryne  0-13

Navan O'Mahonys' second-half rally saw them pinch a point off visitors Skryne in this A FL Division 1 fixture on Saturday evening.

Jake Regan's pointed from from about 45 metres in the second minute of added time snatched a draw for David Nelson's men who never led during the course of the game.

When full-back Ciaran Lenehan pointed in the 53rd minute, Skryne led by 0-12 to 0-7 and looked to have bagged a fourth win of the campaign.

Three minutes later Cormac McGuinness' long delivery broke to sub David Dillon who forced the ball to the Skryne net at the Brews Hill end to leave the minimum in it, 1-8 to 0-12.

Seconds later Dillon's elder brother Brian pointed to tie the scores for the first time. Skryne's positive response saw Mark Battersby point a free into the wind close to the left sideline in the 58th minute.

A few minutes passed before Regan's decisive score produced an outcome that looked unlikely when Skryne led by 0-10 to to 0-5 heading into the final quarter. O'Mahonys lost McGuinness to a straight red card with the hour almost up.

Playing towards the Brews Hill end, Gordon Geraghty's charges were quick off the mark. Two Battersby points from play set them on their way before wing-back Adam O'Sullivan made it 0-3 to 0-0 seven minutes in.

Two Regan frees were all O'Mahonys managed in the opening half. Skryne responded positively each time the number 14 registered. It included a brace of John Morley points from play to leave it 0-8 to 0-2 at the break.

Within nine minutes of the restart, O'Mahonys halved the deficit. The pick of that trio of scores was their first point from play, Regan's 37th minute effort that began with an excellent dispossession by Damien Moran, who also provided the assist for that score.

Skryne responded positively to move five points clear on three occasions. It could have been better for the visitors, but O'Mahonys' 'keeper David Quirke turned Neil Burke's 48th minute effort over the bar to leave it 0-11 to 0-6. A draw seemed an unlikely outcome at that stage.
