Skryne recorded a comfortable win over Simonstown in the Meath minor football league Division 2 final last night at Pairc Tailteann. Team captain Jason Fox hit ten points for the winners.

The winners ability to move the ball at pace against a bigger more physical Simonstown team was a key factor in this win.

Skryne started at a blistering pace and were five points up before Simonstown got on the scoreboard. Team captain Jason Fox opened the scoring before the game was held up for injuries to Skryne corner forward Jason Reddy and goalkeeper Dean Reddy. This failed to halt the Skryne onslaught. Scores from James Finnerty and another three from Fox opened up that five points gap. Shane McHugh eventually opened Simonstown's account but Fox (2) and Eoin Smyth closed out the first half scoring and Skryne went in at the break 0-8 to 0-1 up.

Glad to report that Jason Reddy is going to be ok

County minor Ben Hoey gave Simonstown some hope with two early second half points. But Skryne were having none of it. Between the 7th and 15th minute they closed out the game. Aston Villa bound James Finnerty showed all his soccer skills to finished to the Simonstown net for the games only goal. Fox and Smyth followed up with points and the gap was out to 1-10 to 0-3. Simonstown could only register two points in the closing stages through Conor Nash and Hoey. Fox finished an impressive nights work by tagging on his team last three scores as Skryne ran out comfortable winners.
