AFL3: Clann lose to Dunderry by two

This Rd 7 football league fixture between these two local rivals was played in good conditions on Wednesday night, the visitor's took the lead in the 1st minute with a point but Luke Martyn continued his fine form from the Championship at the weekend scoring a superb point in the 5th minute going away from goal over his left shoulder.

This was followed up with a flowing move involving Andy Coogan, Martyn and Stephen Coogan who calmly dispatched a fine point in the 9th minute. Liam Dempsey and his midfield partner Conor Farrell were battling in midfield Dempsey won a clearance and fed Martyn who put in a high dangerous ball across the face of the goal Bob Doherty won it beat 2 markers and put over a fine point on the 14th minute. The visitor's came back and scored 2 points too level the game but in a 10 minute spell Dunderry scored 5 points, 2 from A.Coogan, a free from S.Coogan, a well taken point from Farrell and a point from A.Walsh. Then in the final action of the half Martyn beat 2 defenders and went for goal only to be dragged down for a penalty which S.Coogan put away to leave half time score 1-8 : 0-5 in favour of the home team.

The visitor's came out in the 2nd half and scored immediately with a well taken point, Dunderry settled and a flowing move involving Conor Dempsey, Farrell, Walsh ended with Conor O'Shea fisting the ball over the bar in the 37th minute. Again the visitor's pulled  appoint back but in the 46th minute Damien Clarke broke down the dugout touchline fed Alan Watters who found Martyn he played an intelligent ball into Walsh who side stepped his marker cut in past another defender too put over a superb point. Clarke followed up in the 48th minute with a point and in the 53rd minute Farrell scored a well taken point to leave the score at 1-12 to 0-7 with the game seemingly in the bag Clan na nGael had other ideas and scored 2 quick goals in the 57th and 60th minutes but the whistle sounded and a relieved Dunderry ended victorious by a score of 1-12 to 2-7.

Clann Na nGael lost out by two points against Dunderry in this All County Division 3 League game played in Dunderry on Wednesday evening.

This was another spirited display from Clann Na nGael. It was five points all approaching half time but a penalty goal by the home side seen them lead by 1-8 to 0-5 at the break. Two goals in the second half from Darren Kelly was not enough for the visitors and the home side lead at the finish by 1-12 to 2-7.
