Ratoath's Joey Wallace

Ratoath 3-10
Castletown 1-9

Ratoath made it 2 wins out of 2 with this solid, workmanlike performance in their victory over Castletown on a cool, bright Sunday afternoon in Trim.

It was Ratoath who drew first blood with a goal in the 8th minute through Joseph Wallace and further points from his brother Eamonn and Bryan McMahon put their team into an early 5 point lead. It was then the turn of the opposition to enjoy their best spell and after notching 2 points of their own they levelled up the game with an opportunist goal in the 24th minute- a slightly fortunate but worthy reward after the corner forward got on the end of a long ball that appeared to be going wide. Both sides exchanged a point each after that to leave the score at half time 1-4 apiece.

The second half began with Fergal Power's charges on the front foot with a brace of points from Joey Wallace .indeed the same player continued to torment the Castletown defence as his next score raised a green flag reacting sharply to a rebounded shot that came off the upright. This put 4 points between the sides and it soon became 7, in the 21st minute with another goal, this time from Gavin McGowan put the finishing touch to a well worked team move to slot it past the Castletown goalkeeper. Even still Ratoath could not rest on their laurels as Castletown's forwards put over the next 2 scores but could not get the goal to make it a tense finale. In the end 7 points was the difference as Ratoath proved the better team in the second half particularly with the wind in their favour Best for Ratoath were Joey Wallace, Conor McGill, Emmet Boyle & Daragh McGill
