JFC B: comfortable win for Moynalty

April 19, 2015

Moynalty's Ollie Sheridan

Moynalty 2-13
Kilbride 0-05

Moynalty got their championship season off to a great start with a resounding victory over Kilbride on Saturday evening. The first half was a low scoring affair as both sides took a time to settle and were guilty of numerous wides.

However it was the home side who built up 5 point lead playing with a wind advantage.I t was the middle sector where Moynalty dominated with midfielder Conor o Loughlin on top aided by the strong running HALF backs Plunkett Tormay and Nicholas Mckenna and the hard working half forward line of Paddy Byrne, Paul Lynch and Adrian Maguire. The sides went in at half time on scoreline of 0-06 to 0-01 in Moynalty's favour.

It was in the second half that Moynalty really opened up and showed their class but not until after an early scare when Kilbride full forward was hauled down for a penalty but the post denied Kilbride a way back into the match in the the 40th minute. The last 20 minutes was one way traffic as the village played their best football outscoring their opponents by 2-06 to 0-02 as their free running game, superior fitness and great accuracy came to the fore. All of the forwards got in on the act with goals from Ollie Sheridan and Paddy Farrely and points from Paul Lynch,Paddy Byrne and Jamie Maloney sealing a great team performance .Tougher assignments lie ahead but the signs are good for this youthfull looking Moynalty team and maybe this could be the year that they build on recent u21 and minor success and reward all the hardwork at underage by so many with landing the holy grail.
