MHC: Kiltale remain on course for the treble

Kiltale's Iarla Hughes

Kiltale qualified for the minor hurling 'A' final with a hard fought victory over Trim in Kiltale and remain on course to take a treble of Meath hurling championship titles.

Kiltale 4-10 Trim 1-11

Kiltale played with the wind advantage amnd raced into a six point lead with a goal from Ross Ryan followed by points from Iarla Hughes and Eoin Crowe and a great effort from Adam Murphy out on the right.
 
Trim replied with a goal from Arnie McGee and points from Mickey Cullen and Brian Dowling.
 
Points from Iarla Hughes and Jack Cummins and a goal from Michael Burke extended Kiltale's lead
 
Iarla Hughes and Cathal Ryan were beginning to dominate midfield and the winners tagged on further points from Andrew Jackson and Ross Ryan and another fine effort from Murphy gave Kiltale a 2-8 to 1-3 interval lead.

Trim played with the wind in the second half and four pointed frees from McGee reduced the gap to 4 early in the second half
 
Some solid defending from Brian O'Reilly, Ronan Ryan, Sean Ryan and David Schilder ensured that Trim were getting very few scores from play.
 
The turning point of the game came when Liam Gilsenan in the Kiltale goals blocked a penalty from Arnie McGee and the ball from the resultant puckout was claimed by Hughie O Sullivan introduced as halftime substitute and he raced through the Trim defence before crossing for the in running Michael Burke who finished to the Trim net.
 
O'Sullivan began to have a major influence on the game and he raced through from midfield to score 2 fantastic points against the wind.
 
Eoin Crowe was putting in a huge deal of work in the forward line and he set up a great point for Adam Murphy.
 
Kiltale made sure of victory when Cathal Ryan made a great run through from midfield before off loading to Jack Cummins who finished to the Trim net.
