September 15, 2014

Dunboyne's Michael Dunne.

Dunboyne  2-15
Simonstown Gaels 2-7

Dunboyne got off to a flying start in this JFC semi final played in Dunshaughlin on Saturday afternoon. They registered 2 goals and 3 points before John Lunney responded for the Navan side with point from a free. Shane Comiskey scored the first goal for Dunboyne and then turned provider to set up centre forward Stephen Moran for an impressive team goal. Three points from Lunney's boot was all Simonstown could muster in a frustrating opening half as they trailed 2-6 to 0-3 at the interval.

The second half resumed as the first had ended and the team in black and yellow stretched further clear thanks to points from David McEntee, Moran, Comiskey and full forward Michael Dunne. Simonstown showed good heart in the closing quarter and goals from substitutes Willie Stynes and Christopher O'Neill narrowed the deficit. Points from Shane Kiernan and a Donagh Fitzpatrick free followed but it was never going to be enough as Dunboyne ran out comprehensive victors on a scoreline of Simonstown 2-7, Dunboyne 2-15.
