U4 HC: Ratoath defeat Kildalkey again

September 10, 2014

Ratoath overcame Kildalkey to reach the semi final.

Kildalkey 2-08 Ratoath 4-07

In a repeat of the u14 Final played back in June, this game was nip and tuck as expected. Another mighty shift from the Ratoath lads saw them through to the semi-final, but only just.

Goals from Hurley and Duggan kept Ratoath in the match at halftime, with frees being traded between Rogers and the Kildalkey score getter, Nicolas Potterton. The pattern of the match saw Kildalkey scoring well on limited posession as the Ratoath lads dominated the open play.

The pattern continued well into the 2nd half when a second goal from Potterton put the Kildalkey lads in front with 15 minutes to go. That was as good as it got for the home side as the goal was almost immediately cancelled out by a Sean Johnston major, followed up with a brace of fine points from play from Cian Rogers. A brilliant fourth Ratoath goal from Johnston near the final whistle sealed a fine win for Ratoath.

Best for Ratoath were Ruairi Crawford and Padraic Byrne who were well supported by keeper Briody and his full back line.

Ratoath:- Ciaran Briody; Ruairi Coulter, Daithi McGowan, Cathal Sherlock; Niall McLarnon, Aaron O'Flaherty, Padraic Byrne; Ruairi Crawford, Tadgh McCann; Sean Johnston, Cian Rogers, Luke-Hwinq Hurley; Shane Duggan Shane McGoldrick, Harry Haskins; sub:- Aidan McLarnon (for Haskins)
