Camogie: Dunboyne Juniors beat Drumree

September 03, 2014

The strong Dunboyne squad.

Dunboyne Junior Camogiers had a superb win over Junior Championship finalist Drumree tonight in the League.  Dunboyne, unfortunately, did not enter a team in this years championship due to a lack of numbers. However with thanks to the great training of trainer/managers Stephen Clince and Alan Watters, interest and numbers have increased greatly over the last few months, meaning Dunboyne now have both a full Junior and Senior panel for the first time in years.

Dunboyne got off to a winning start with a goal from full forward Sinead Clince. Drumree showed why they were in this years championship final with some superb play from their girls, resulting in more possession than Dunboyne in the first half. Staunch defending, however, from Laura Reilly, Clare Gilligan,Ali Jones and Bronagh Moran meant the Drumree forwards could not convert this possession to scores.
Dunboyne forwards were more clinical from play, with newcomer Aisling O'Neil getting her first ever camogie goal, and Aisling Garvey and Emma Doherty scoring some great points from play. Drumree fought hard from start to finish, and were no doubt suffering the effects of the hard final they played on Sunday gone, which ended in a draw.

As the light faded, the second half produced more of the same, hard fought camogie from both sides, the highlight of which was an excellent point from half forward Caoimhe Curran from the 45 yard line. The game ended Dunboyne 4-6 Drumree 1-2.

Dunboyne: Hannah Bowman, Bronagh Moran, Clare Gillagan, Beth O' Sullivan, Ali Jones, Laura Reilly, Ais Garvey, Aoife O' Neil, Caoimhe Curran, Emma Doherty, Aisling O'Neil, Triona Comiskey, Sinead Clince, Kim Deens
Subs: Bridgie Sheehan for Kim, Aine Kennedy for Aisling O'Neil, Maria Kennedy for Aoife O' Neil, Jessie Furlong for Bronagh Moran, Amy Coyne for Laura Reilly
