Martin Fox gets in his pass for St Vincent during the JFC B quarter final against St Marys at Stamullen

This time last year, St Marys and St Vincents met on a windy day in Duleek with the Donore side coming out on top. The two sides met again at the same stage of the championship.

Conditions were perfect with the sun beaming down on a fantastic pitch in Stamullen. From the start St Vincents showed that they were seeking revenge.
St Marys were first on the scoreboard. Richie O'Sullivan levelled for Vincents. O'Sullivan added another from a free. With 15 minutes gone the Ardcath men led 0-3 to 0-2 before the games opening goal arrived. Good work by Ronan Sheridan saw the ball reach Cathal Byrne and despite taking a heavy knock blasted the ball to the Marys net. St Vincents lost influential defender Davy Tallon to a black card but went in at the break 1-4 to 0-4 ahead.

St Marys narrowed the gap with the first score of the second half. O'Sullivan restored the three point advantage from a free before they struck for goal number 2. A good move involving Robert Tallon and O'Sullivan led to Ronan Sheridan blasting home. Midway through the half Vincents led 2-6 to 0-6.

The winners failed to score for the remainder but held St Marys to two points. The Ardcath men were reduced to 14 men with 5 minutes remaining when referee Andrew lineman showed Martin Fox a red card.

St Vincents march on to the semi final while one of the favourites St Marys exit.
