Ronan Cassidy in action for St Michaels against Meath Hill

St. Michaels 1-7 Meath Hill 0-6.

St. Michaels turned in a good winning performance in Carlanstown last evening in preparation for their up-coming final with Oldcastle which has yet to be fixed.

Considering that a win made no difference to either team they still produced a closely fought affair and it wasn't until the final 8 minutes that St. Michaels pulled away from the visitors.

Meath Hill opened the scoring with a point straight from the throw in, a Ben Farrell free brought the sides back on level terms, both sides exchanged two points with Johnny Reilly and Oran Meehan getting on the scoreboard for the home side, then on 15 minutes Darren O'Connell struck for his sides opening goal, Ronan Cassidy and Johnny Reilly added a point a piece but Meath Hill fought back and after 23 minutes they had the deficit reduced to two points, 1-5 to 0-6. However further points Cassidy and Matthew Halpin put 4 between the sides at half time, 1-7 to 0-6.

St. Michaels made a great start to the second half with top gun Ronan Cassidy finding the back of the net in the second minute, Meath Hill however were not put out by that goal and they controlled the next 10 minutes, outscoring their opponents 0-5 to 0-1 to leave it 2-8 to 0-11on 46 minutes but back came St. Michaels with Johnny Reilly 0-2 and one apiece from Ronan Cassidy and Thomas O'Brien stretching the lead to 7 points entering the final 10 minutes, Meath Hill eventually found a way past Paddy Flood in the home goals on 51minutes but from there to the end the scores began to rain in for St. Michaels who ran out easy winners in the end.
