St. Michaels 3-18
Royal Gaels 2-5.

St. Michaels ladies edge towards the business end of the Intermediate championship with a much easier victory than the final score-line even suggests as they dismissed the challenge put forward by Royal Gaels in Carlanstown last evening.

Right from the off St. Michaels controlled matters with 6 players getting on the score sheet as they played into a stiff wind, Sinead McCormack opened the scoring with a point on 3 minutes, the winners opening goal came on 11 minutes after some good work from Aisleen Regan found Alicia Curtis who blasted it low to the bottom corner of the net. Marion Farrelly struck the winners second major on 25 minutes and further first half points from Aisleen Regan 0-4, Marion Farrelly, Megan O'Brien and Fiona Nevin put St. Michaels into a commanding 2-9 to 0-2 interval lead.

The pattern of play continued into the second half as St. Michaels went on to pick off scores at will and by the 58th minute the home side were 3-17 to 0-4 ahead after points from Aisleen Regan & Marion Farrelly 0-2 each and one apiece from Patricia Owens, Megan O'Brien, Sinead McCormack, Ellen Cassidy and Sally Keogan. Erin McGrane neatly tucked her sides third goal past Orlagh McLoughlin in the Royal Gaels goals in the 50th minute. Royal Gaels best spell of the match came in the closing 8 minutes when they registered 2-2. Lorraine Curtis in the St. Michaels goals was tested on several occasions during the match but she was equal to anything that came at her bringing off some fine saves but she could do nothing about the two late goals from the visitors. Out from the scorers others to have a good day at the office were Aine Sheridan, Marita Rogers, Ellen Cassidy Hayley Doyle Gillian, Curtis and Mary Clinton.
