Getting to Aughrim

June 12, 2013

The GAA pitch in Aughrim.
Aughrim is not your average type of county ground and a little bit out of the way.

So we asked the local club and the Wicklow County Board for directions and other information which they gladly provided.

Directions.
For most go onto the M50 and from there take the M11 signposted for Wexford. This becomes the N11 and later at junction 14 move back onto the M11.

Leave the M11 at junction 16 and head for Rathnew. Look for the signs for Rathdrum which you will see signposted N11, Wexford.

To reach Rathdrum you go through a village called Glenealy. Follow the main road around Rathdrum and a mile further on you will see Aughrim signposted . Take a right.

The AA Route Planner says Aughrim is 126.79km's from Navan with an estimated time of one hour and forty five minutes to get there. Give yourself plenty of same.

Parking.
There are car parking spaces at the pitch but to avail of these one would have to arrive early. Other car parking facilities are just before the town on the right hand side in a field beside a bridge. Drivers will observe these by the presence of stewards and Gardai.

Refreshments
Told there is a good selections of pubs and two or three restaurants within 500 yards walking distance from the pitch.

If you have anything to add to the above or can provide any hints to travelling fans please enter same in a thread set up on our Meath forum page.
