Navan O'Mahonys outscored visitors Oldcastle in the A FL Division 1 on Saturday evening.
David Nelson's charges posted their fourth win in six league starts when finishing with 16 points to spare over a weak Oldcastle side.
It was a good workmanlike display by O'Mahonys ahead of their hoganstand.com SFC Group A third round clash with Duleek-Bellewstown on Thursday, May 30.
Jake Regan again led the way in the scoring stakes with 2-5 that included five pointed frees and two first-half goals.
The opening goal arrived seven minutes in and gave O'Mahonys the lead for the first time, 1-1 to 0-1 with Damien Moran and Paddy Smyth playing supporting roles.
The hard-working Stephen MacGabhann played a key role in Regan's second goal which left it 2-3 to 0-2, 20 minutes in.
Oldcastle responded with another fine Robbie Farrelly score, but O'Mahonys went on to lead by 2-5 to 0-3 at the break.
The central part of an interval reshuffle, saw Oldcastle 'keeper Conor McHugh move outfield with corner-back Sean Rahill going between the posts.
O'Mahonys added nine points in a row from the resumption that included from Regan efforts from frees. By the end seven different players from the home side were on the scoresheet.
A total of 16 wides - eight in each half - would a concern in a closer fixture. Colm Coyle's men had just four wides over the 60 minutes.
O'Mahonys tally was bookended by half of Oldcastle's total. Robbie Farrelly opened the scoring with a magnificent effort 30 seconds into proceedings.
Paddy Rahill closed the scoring in stoppage time at the end of the game as Oldcastle tumbled to their third defeat of the league campaign.
