Minor competitions update

May 19, 2013
The Meath Minor leagues are progressing as the State Exams are on the Horizon and both Minor Board and Clubs look to get the Leagues finished.

Friday night's win for Donaghmore/Ashbourne over O'Mahonys caused a minor shock although the margin of victory surprised most. Both clubs now have home semi finals as Dunboyne ended Rataoths hopes of qualifying and St Vincents/Curraha win over Simonstown sees them set up a local Derby of a Semi v Donaghmore/Ashbourne. OMahonys now face a tricky Semi Final v Dunboyne.

Division 2 has been a close run thing throughout and the Semi Final line up sees an all South Meath affair in both as Summerhill tackle Trim and Dunshaughlin face Jenkinstown Gaels.

Gaeil Colmcille's win over St Olivers in a winner take all clash now has the Kells side take on neighbours St Michaels as Rathkenny travel to Na Fianna in the other Semi of Division 3.

Another local Derby seen Ballivor edge out Clann na nGael to take 3rd place in Division 4 and a trip to Duleek/Bellewstown while St Patrick's travel to Dunboyne to take on that clubs B side in the other Division 4 Semi Final.

Division 5 & 6 are at Final stage as Longwood defeated Ballinabrackey and at the other end of the County North Meath got the better of Oldcastle to quailify to take on the Longwood lads next Saturday in Bohermeen. Division 6 Semi's last night ended with wins for Clonard and Nobber over Dunderry and Bru na Boinne and it is ironic that both Clonard and Nobber felt they
would not be able to muster the required 13 to field but now both have a chance to win the Competition.
