Conor Smyth (St Ultan's) gives chase to Castletown's Kevin Ross during the Mewath IFC at Moynalty
Castletown 1-12
St Ultans 1-8

St Ultans were beaten in this closely fought Meade Potato Co Intermediate championship game played in Moynalty on Saturday night. They recovered from a poor first half to rally in the second half.

They started the game on the back foot and found themselves 1-2 to a point down after 10 minutes gone. It was on the stroke of Half time that Ultans got their 2nd point after a well worked 45 resulted in midfielder Paul Murray firing over from long range. The half time score was Castletown 1-4 Ultans 0-2. Castletown were impressive and raced into an 8 point 2nd half lead. Ultans responded with points from Paul Murray (2) and Conor Smith from play. A Couple of substitutes revitalised the Ultans challenge. The impressive Eugene Brady then added a point from play before scoring a goal after a good team move. This left 3 points in it. Cian Rennicks then blasted over a point to leave 2 in it. However this was as good as it got for the Ultans as Castletown scored 2 points to settle them down and see out the game. All in all plenty for Ultans to work on before Next weeks game v Ballinabrackey.
