Beaten out the gate by Dublin in the Leinster final, Meath bounced back with a dramatic victory over Tyrone in last night's All-Ireland minor football quarter-final at Newry.

Ulster champions Tyrone looked to have done enough when leading by a point in the dying moments, but there was one final twist when full forward Stephen Coogan scored a late winning goal for the Royals, who can now look forward to an All-Ireland semi-final against Mayo on August 26.

Andy McEntee's charges showed that they meant business when Barry Dardis palmed the ball to the Tyrone after just 12 seconds. It didn't take the pre-match favourites long to recover from that setback, however, with Sean Hackett raising a green flag at the other end five minutes later.

The sides were level on 1-7 apiece at half-time. Tyrone enjoyed the lion's share of possession in the second half, but were let down by poor finishing. In spite of this, their top scorer Mark Bradley looked to have got them over the line before Coogan pounced for his dramatic winner.
