BFL4: Vincents too strong for Michaels

May 17, 2012

St Michael's Tommy Moriarty
St. Michaels 1-5
St. Vincents 3-12

St. Michaels went down to a much stronger St. Vincents side in this reserve league match played in Carlanstown last evening. The return of two St. Michaels stalwarts, Tom Halpin and Tommy Moriarty to the red and black jersey failed to stem the dominance of St. Vincents in this match as they led from start to finish.

Peter O'Connell goaled for St. Michaels after 10 minutes to level the match at 1-0 to 0-3, that goal however only served as a tiny glitch for St. Vincents, as they continued to put points on the board and they were back in the lead a minute later. They were 0-8 to 1-0 ahead when Mark Sheridan got St. Michaels second score, a point on 25 minutes as the home side trailed 1-1 to 0-8 at the break.

Peter O'Connell added 0-3 and Jamie Farrelly 0-1 in the second half, but any chance of a comeback for St. Michaels was well and truly quenched when St. Vincents added three second half goals in the 10th, 20th and 27th minutes.

St. Michaels: Alan Dolan, Vincent Finnegan, Richard Lynch, Brian Allen, Stephen O'Brien, Patrick Clarke, Mark Sheridan 0-1, Patrick Flood, Tommy Moriarty, Paddy Murray, Peter O'Connell 1-3, Stephen Lynch, Martin Dawson, Jamie Farrelly 0-1, Tom Halpin.
