Tipperary football manager John Evans
Ex-Tipp manager John Evans admits that being offered the role of Meath coach came as a surprise.

Meath manager Seamus McEnaney has added Evans to his backroom team after a turbulent period during his time in charge of the Royals.

And Evans, who stepped down from his role as Tipperary manager at the end of the league campaign explained to the Kerryman that he was all set for a bit of time out from coaching.

"I was resigned to doing a bit of relaxing after leaving Tipperary, but I decided to take a shot at this," said Evans. "Seamus McEnaney saw me an asset to his coaching and that's the reason he came to me and asked me to come on board."
