Dunboyne's Craig Berrigan tries to get away from Walterstown's Tom Walsh during the hoganstand.com Meath SFC at Lomans Park Trim
St Peters edged out Walterstown to gain their second win in the hoganstand.com Meath SFC at a sunny but cold St Lomans Park Trim. The Dunboyne men accounted for last year's beaten finalists Dunshaughlin in the opening round.

St Peters Dunboyne 0-9
Walterstown 0-6

Playing against the wind Walterstown got the first score of the game when Richie Barry pointed. Both sides found scores hard to come by in the opening half. Ger Robinson levelled matters and further points from Stephen Moran, Gary Watters and another from Moran gave Dunboyne a 0-4 to 0-2 interval lead.

Walterstown were forced to replace county player Tom Walsh before the interval. Walsh played a major part in most of Meath's NFL and O'Byrne Cup campaigns and surely would have featured in Seamus McEnaneys plans for the championship especially with Mark Ward missing for the Wicklow game. The midfielder, who was playing well for the Blacks, looked in trouble with a shoulder injury.

Three points separated the teams midway through the second half when Walterstown full foward Michael Clarke had a glorious chance to level matters but his effort for a goal went just wide. Points from Richie Barry and Alban Crosby closed the gap to two with, 0-8 to 0-6, five minutes remaing. Despite playing with the elements thats as close as the Blacks got to Dunboyne. A pointed free from Watters closed out the scoring.

Referee Patrick McNelis issued a red card to Dunboyne defender Cathal Finn towards the end of the game.
