Next 24-hours to be decisive in Meath saga

Meath manager Seamus McEnaney
The odds on Meath having a new manager in place when they face Wicklow in the Leinster championship are shortening today, with a decision on Seamus McEnaney's future expected soon.

Earlier this week it was expected that the Monaghan man would be allowed to continue in the role for the remainder of the year, despite his team being relegated to Division 3 of the Allianz FL following a humiliating defeat to Louth in Navan.

However, the intervening days have seen the pressure continue to mount on McEnaney and his future was discussed in detail at a management meeting of the county board last night.

hoganstand.com understands that following the meeting McEnaney, who has been considering his position, was asked to make a decision within 24-hours as to whether he wished to go on his own terms. Contingency plans have been put in place with one high profile individual already contacted about his availability to take over the reins on a temporary basis should McEnaney depart.

If McEnaney's tenure come to an end then Meath will move onto the fifth different manager since Sean Boylan's 23-year spell at the helm of the county ended seven seasons ago.
