St Mary's defeated Dunsany by five points in this opening Division 4 A league game in Donore on Sunday.
Dunsany had the better of the first half and scored the first three points but a tally of eight wides restricted their half time lead to just two points, 0-5 to 0-3.
St Marys got the opening score of the second half but when Dunsany responded with two points they looked to be on their way. However St Marys got the next five scores, the first of them a crucial goal. Dunsany drew level when Sean Stephens netted but St Marys hit back with two points and sealed victory with a late goal.
Best for Dunsany were Paddy McGovern, Paul O'Brien, Alan Hogan and Mark Brennan.
Best for St Marys were Erin Madden, Gary Teelan, Jack English, Brian Lawless and Michael Everard.
