The home side got off to a great start with a goal scored by Martin Fox after only 2 minutes.
The goal was followed by 5 unanswered points coming from Bob Tallon, two from Tommy Field - one of which was a free kick, Enda Murphy and another free, this time coming from the boot of Martin Byrne. It took until the fourteenth minute for St. Pauls to register their opening score a point from play. Then came two well taken points from Bob Tallon followed by a point from Ronan Sheridan. St Pauls finished off the scoring for the first half with a point, leaving the score at half time St Vincents 1-8 St Pauls 0-2.
The second half was a much more even affair with St Pauls having the advantage of playing down the hill. Enda Murphy opened the scoring in the second half with his second of the game. The two teams then traded points - Tommy field getting his third of the game. St Pauls were then on top for the next ten or fifteen minutes scoring three points without reply. However St.Vincents finished out the game with two points from Paddy Arnold after good link up play with Keith Lynch.
Best for St.Vincents were Enda Murphy, Tommy Kearns, Bob Tallon, Tommy Field and Paddy Arnold.
