ACFL 4: Slane and Moynalty share the spoils
February 05, 2012

Slane's Alan Harding
Slane 2-5 Moynalty 0-11
A new look Slane team took a while to settle into this match and this handed a pacey Moynalty side the early advantage.
Moynalty raced into an early lead with 3 unanswered points before Alan Harding got the home side off the mark. Moynalty tagged on a further point before Slane's Stephen Goodwin won his team a penalty that Harding dispatched expertly to the net. This rallied Slane and they began playing some excellent football, however, the Moynalty forwards continued to cause them problems as they added 2 more points before the lively Harding latched onto a through ball to blast home his second goal of the game.
This left the sides level at half-time at 2-1 to 0-7.
Slane began the second half with more hunger and soon took the lead after Kevin Reilly calmly slotted over a free. Moynalty responded with a fine point of their own before Alan Harding swung over 2 frees to give his side the lead. Moynalty were determined not to leave empty handed and they replied again before taken the lead themselves with time running out. Slane continued to play some good football and they got what they deserved as Harding pointed to level the match and that was to be the final score of the game.
A draw was probably the fairest result after both teams played out an entertaining match.
