Drumree GAA have made the decision that the club will no longer field football teams in any adult competitions.
2012 marked a 125 year tradition for Gaelic Games in Drumree. A number of teams were formed up until the 1940's when the present club was established.
Drumree have enjoyed plenty of success on the football front on and off the field of play. In 1998, they achieved a unique Junior championship double. Their footballers then went on to claim Leinster glory, becoming the first Meath side to do so.
Evan Kelly, who won two All Ireland medals with Meath was one of the stars on the Drumree side that beat St. Mary's in the county final before defeating Ballyroan of Laois in the provincial decider.
However, football has been a downward spiral at the club ever since relegation from the Intermediate ranks in 2005.
