BFL 4: Rathkenny earn draw

August 30, 2010

Rathkenny's Thomas Rowan
Duleek/Bellewstown 1-11
Rathkenny 3-5

Rathkenny came away with a hard earned draw in this ACFL4B game played in Duleek last Saturday evening.

Duleek/Bellewstown were quickest out of the blocks with four early points and when they added a goal soon afterwards, it looked like an easy victory was on the cards. However the visitors kicked over two points from Robert Price and Darren Barron and after a good solo run, Peter Downey buried to the net to leave it 1-07 to 1-02 at the interval.

Darren Barron kicked a point for the visitors after the break and when Thomas Martin intercepted a pass from the hosts net-minder and lobbed a goal, there was only a point in it. Duleek/Bellewstown added to the scoreboard before Barron popped over his third point of the day. Minutes later he hit a shot of the crossbar before Tom Rowan applied the finish from the rebound to put Rathkenny in front. Barry Carolan added a point before the hosts kicked over the final two scores and also had a chance to win it, but kicked a wide.
