AFL 2: Cortown earn bragging rights over Dunderry

August 28, 2010

Cortown's Richie Flanagan
Cortown 1-10
Dunderry 0-7

Cortown led from start to finish in this Div II 'A' league game played in Cortown on Friday night.

Both sides were short some regulars particularly Dunderry who would have had an eye on the upcoming Intermediate Championship Semi Final. The first half was played at a fast pace with the play moving up and down the field with 2 points the biggest margin. The pace and the quality of play dropped in the second half and it took 12 minutes before the first score, a pointed free for Cortown, arrived. When Breen Smith got through for a very good solo goal in the 15th minute putting the home side 6 ahead it was the deciding score of the game.

Best for Cortown were J. McFadden, David Coyne, J. Casserly, Declan Coyne, B. Smith and C. Kerrigan.
