Dunboyne ....... 0-13
Walterstown .... 0-11
Dunboyne out pointed Walterstown in a closely contested Meath Farm Machinery SFC quarter-final at Ratoath on Sunday evening.
The sides were level five times before Dunboyne made a break for the finishing tape and a semi-final reacquaintance with Skryne - who defeated them by 2-10 to 2-6 in their final group game.
A pointed Ger Robinson free from about 45 metres midway through the second-half earned Dunboyne a 0-9 to 0-8 lead which they didn't cash in.
Though wearing the number 14 shirt, Gerry Gallagher spent most of the hour around midfield from where he made a significant contribution to his side's success.
He place David Clarke for Dunboyne's next score and also provided the assist for Nigel Crawford's second point of the game.
Further scores from Stephen Moran (45) and substitute Donal Lenihan left it 0-13 to 0-10 by the 58th minute.
A point from substitute Mark McCormack was all Walterstown could muster in reply as they exited the Keegan Cup race.
Things started brightly for Walterstown and six minutes in Mick O'Brien's men were 0-3 to 0-0 clear with Tom Walsh pointing twice and David Maguire also registering.
Sean McGarrell opened Dunboyne's account in the 10th minute and before the opening quarter elapsed they were on level terms with Craig Berrigan gettting the equalising score.
Walsh put Walterstown back in front but Dunboyne responed with points from Moran (45), Denis Gallagher and Nigel Crawford to lead by 0-6 to 0-4 by the 23rd minute.
An Alban Crosbie pointed free left Walterstown 0-5 to 0-6 in arrears at the break but the same play levelled matters from another placed ball shortly after the restart.
Walterstown led by a point on two further occasions, thanks to Walsh and Crosbie, before Dunboyne made that decisive dash for a last four berth.
