St. Michaels collected their first underage trophy of the year after they put in an excellent second half display to collect the Shield in this entertaining match played in Carnaross on Wednesday evening last. 

Matthew Halpin 0-2, Oran Meehan and Ray Reilly 0-1 each opened the scoring for St. Michaels but Carnaross who had the better first half led by 7 points after 29 minutes until Oran Meehan goaled with the last kick of the ball to leave St. Michaels trailing by just 4 points, 2-5 to 1-4 at the break. 

St. Michaels hit the ground running in the second half and the teams were level after just 5 minutes of the restart. With Matthew Halpin & Aaron Kernan in control at centerfield St. Michaels had built up a 10 point lead by the 45th minute through scores from Oran Meehan, Matthew Halpin 1-1 each, Stephen Dolan 1-0, Aaron Kernan 0-2 and Adam O'Brien 0-1. Carnaross fought back for the last 15 minutes despite the efforts of Lee Morris and Thomas O'Brien and they outscored their opponents 1-4 to a single point from Oran Meehan, but the task was too great and St. Michaels ran out deserving winners.
