An understrength Simonstown lost the first round of the MFL Division 1 at home to Donaghmore/Ashbourne on St. Patrick's Day.

Forced to field without their St Pat's contingent, the team in sky blue were no match for the visitors who led by 0-5 to 0-3 at the break and made full use of their second half wind advantage.
