O'Mahony's retain the Seamus Heaney Cup

Navan O'Mahonys retained the Seamus Heaney Cup after defeating Simonstown on a 1-12 to 0-8 scoreline under lights on Tuesday last the 16th March.

The opening half was a close affair and the sides were level at half-time 0-4 a piece. Wayne McCarthy was Simonstown's main threat with 0-5 (4 from frees) and Joe Lyons was also causing problems at centre-forward.

However in the second half Navan O'Mahonys pulled away and Simonstown could only manage four more points in the second half from McCarty, Stepthen Moran, Pauric McKeever and Sean Tobin.

After the game the Simonstown Chairman Jim Lane along with members of the Heaney Family presented the Seamus Heaney Cup to Navan O'Mahonys winning captain Shane McKeigue.

All proceeds of the game were in aid of the oncology unit at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda and both clubs would like to thank all who contributed.
