Byrne insists Royals won't wilt

Meath's Peadar Byrne
Peadar Byrne is confident that Meath won't capitulate like Dublin did against Kerry in Sunday's All-Ireland football semi-final. The Kingdom trounced the Leinster champions by 17 points earlier this month, but Meath wing forward Byrne says there is no chance of Eamonn O'Brien's side suffering a similar fate. "In the first half, Kerry were unbelievable - they were kicking points from everywhere," he told the Irish Daily Mirror. "But Dublin didn't work, they never tracked any of their players. All their players were out in front, they never put in a challenge at all. If you don't put in a challenge any team would do that to you. "There's no doubting Kerry's six forwards are very good, but again if you get stuck into them and play some football it's all on the day." The Royals have already surpassed expectations by getting this far, but the Castlepollard-based postman believes they are capable of going even further. "We know it will be difficult. We couldn't beat Dublin and they got turned over so badly by Kerry. "But we're going to go into the game with belief and play football like Meath teams have done before. "If we work we'll be in with a chance against any team, that was the stepping stone for us to beat Mayo," Byrne added.
