Leinster club MFC: Donaghmore/Ashbourne reach final
December 01, 2008

Stephen Kavanagh fisted a great goal for the winners
Donaghmore/Ashbourne 4-10
Mullingar Shamrocks 0-5
Donaghmore/Ashbourne started as they meant to go on and raced into a 1-2 lead before Mullingar Shamrocks got their first point from a free.
When Stephen Kavanagh finished with a great goal on the 8th minute we knew this team were not going to be beaten easily, they were on form. Bryan Menton dominated mid-field with some fine catches and distributed the ball well. Gavin Kennedy also impressed with his energetic performance, he scored an impressive 1-3. Mullingar Shamrocks only scored 0-1 in the first half with Don/Ash putting up a score of 2-6. From the scoreline it can be seen that all our backs performed very well with Sean Curran commanding from full back. Danny McShane made some fine saves.
Mullingar Shamrocks started well in the second half and scored two points before Don/Ash scored, but Cathal Field ended all chance of a comeback when he netted two goals, one coming from a brilliant pass from Stephen Kavanagh who had moved to centre field for the second half with Andrew Tormey going off injured. Darren Marcello replaced Danny McShane in goals and also pulled off some brilliant saves. Gary Naughton was another to impress up front finishing with a tally of 0-3.
Don/Ash now go on to play Geraldines from Dundalk who looked very impressive when they beat Portlaoise after extra time.
