Reilly turns down AFL offer

Meath's Kevin Reilly
Meath defender Kevin Reilly has revealed he was approached by an AFL club following his role in Ireland's International Rules victories over Australia last month. The Navan O'Mahony's clubman refused to divulge the name of the club, but admitted that a desire to complete his third-level studies swayed his decision to stay at home. "I think Aussie Rules is a great theory," the 22-year-old said. "It's a different ball game. Gaelic football is far more skilful, a far better game. "I'm not going to say too much about people coming up and talking to me, but it has happened. (Taking up an offer) didn't happen though. "As I said, it's great in theory. You have to weigh it all up, I'm in third year of PE and I really want to get my degree. I'll be 23 in February and it will probably be too late by the time I have the degree got."
