U21: Skryne lose out in semi-final
November 17, 2008
Skryne 1-8
Summerhill 2-12
Summerhill took control of the game from the start, registering four points before James Hegarty opened Skryne's account with a point from play and within three minutes he'd put the ball in the back of the net to level the scores. Summerhill replied with a further 1-4 before half time to extend their lead, with Skryne's two points before the break coming from Mark Battersby, leaving the scores 1-3 to 1-8.
Mark Battersby got the first point of the second half for Skryne but Summerhill managed to clock up four points and another goal to put the game out of reach for Skryne and although Skryne scored four points in the last ten minutes of play, the scores coming from Johnny Jordan, Patrick O'Rourke, James Hegarty and Mark Battersby, it was not enough to challenge Summerhill.
Skryne will be hopeful for next years U21 competition, with all but one player from this years team eligible to play again next year.
