U15: Ratoath reach U15 Div 4A Decider
November 17, 2008
Ratoath B 1-7
Bru na Boinne 0-7
Ratoath pulled out a magnificent second half performance in Bellewstown on Saturday last to edge out Slane side Bru na Boinne in the U15 Division 4A semi-final.
Bru na Boinne started strongly and built a three point lead before Cian Carey popped over a point in reply. Cian's free taking and general play was a man of the match performance.
The score remained at 0-3 to 0-1 at half time but if truth be told it was only due to some tough defending by Ratoath as Bru na Boinne pressed continually. Conor Hughes and Aiden Quigley were outstanding to keep the Slane side at bay.
The second half proved a different story as Raoath piled on the pressure and tacked on some excellent points. Mid way through the half Ratoath scored a fortunate gaol. This, however, triggered a Bru na Boinne fight back and they began to get a grip on the midfield and pressed forward taking some nice points. Once again the Ratoath defence stepped up and Eoin Halpin, Jack Wiley and Andrew Flinter worked hard to maintain the lead.
Adam Griffith and Sean Sweeney took control again as the game wound down. Richie Timoney and Andrew Gerarthy worked hard to set up some nice points to keep the goal lead and put Ratoath into the final.
