U15: Ratoath into semi-finals
November 11, 2008
Ratoath 2-12
St Cuthberts 1-5
A storming first half performance, against a strong wind, saw Rtaoath win this Division 4 U15 FL playoff.
On a night of strong winds and rain in Dunganny, Ratoath played into the wind in the first half. Hoping to hold St Cuthberts, however the Ratoath team chased and harried right across the pitch. This combined with some top class football saw Ratoath opening a three point lead.
Although St Cuthberts continued to press confident goalkeeping from Jack McGowan and strong back play from Connor Hughes kept St Cuthberts at bay.
The half back line led by Andrew Flinter provided a springboard and with Michael King putting in a man of the match performance, the Ratoath team continued to press and tagged on two goals to put them in control of this match.
The second half did not go along expected lines as St Cuthberts played strongly and pushed Ratoath all the way. However with Adam Griffiths, Cian Carey and Aiden Quigley stepped up to the task and brought Ratoath back into the game.
The Ratoath front line of Richard Timoney, Andrew Gerarthy and Gerard Brennan combined well to tag on some late points and give the score line a comfortable look
