Moylagh 0-13.   St Pats 0-08

Moylagh made the long journey to a very well presented Slane pitch on Saturday afternoon knowing only a win would retain their Intermediate status for next year, and avoid a regulation battle.

After a narrow defeat in their opening round against Walterstown and and a convincing defeat against St Michaels which done Moylagh no justice on their that day, Moylagh knew that had every chance off taking the points against St Pats.

The North Meath side came storming out off blocks and had three points on the board after five mins. Two coming from the boot of full back Darren Gibney and a free from Tommy O Reilly after a foul on Niall McAlarney.
St Pats put their first score on the board after tens minutes but Moylagh reply was instant with a good pointed effort from OReilly. St Pat hit back with two more points.

Moylagh’s defence started to get on top off any attack that came their way with Shane Gibney leading the way. Sean Reilly and Joe Meila Started got a tight grip around the middle of the field and Moylagh went on to kick the next  four points through Tommy O'Reilly and Sean Reilly aftert fouls on Rory Gibney. Gibney himself got the next score from a mark, the hardworking Alan McCann finished the scoring for the first half. Moylagh 0-8 St Pats 0-03

Moylagh started the second half as the finished the first halfwith a point from sub Gary Murphy, Things got worse for St Pats who were reduced to fourteen men after they a had a player dismissed for a high tackle on Shane Gibney. Further points from O’Reilly, Gibney and Niall McAlarney gave Moylagh a six point lead entering the last ten minutes. St Pat refused to go away and hit two point on the bounce too leave four between the teams and St Pats were awarded a penalty which Moylagh goalkeeper Peter Fox saved brilliantly. From the the resulting save Moylagh worked the ball to Rory Gibney who finished with a point and the last score of the game,
