JFC: Moynalty hold on

Moynalty 1-18 Slane 3-11

In the second round of the Junior A Championship Moynalty travelled the short journey to Kilmainhamwood where they met Slane.

Moynalty got the best start where they went 6 points up before Slane got off the mark, points from Ronan Lynch (1), Ollie Sheridan (2), Paul Lynch (1), Paddy Byrne (1), James Cassidy (1). Slane replied with a goal and a point in the 13th and 17th minute. Just before the first water break Paul Lynch scored Moynalty's 7th  point.  When play resumed Moynalty struck 3 further points Ollie Sheridan (2), James Cassidy (1). With a few minutes remaining to half time Slane got a free which they converted. Both sides then traded points to bring the half time score Moynalty 0-11, Slane 1-03. 

Stephen Skelly got the second half under way. It was Slane who started the best hitting a goal in the first minute to leave just two points between them. Paul Lynch quickly replied with a goal for Moynalty in the 3rd minute. Slane started to chip away at Moynalty's lead and it was like this for the remainder of the game. There was only the bare minimum in the game with time running out and Moynalty supporters were in a panic. Thankfully referee Stephen Skelly blew the full time whistle to Moynalty's delight which saw them escape with a one point win.
