Thomas Blaney Wolfe Tones

Bhulf Ton 3-09  St Peter’s Dunboyne 5-14

Tar éis an bua iontach inné bhí an foireann sóisearach dochasach  ag tabhairt faoi Dún Bóinne inniu.Faraoir bhí Dún Bóinne níos láidre agus níos mó táithí acu agus fuair siad an lámh in uachtar ar na Tones.

St Peter’s,  Dunboyne got off to an ideal start, scoring 1-1 in the opening salvo’s of this Premier Championship Division 1 encounter. However,  Tones responded with a Thomas Blaney penalty and points from Evan Corrigan & Aaron Tolan. A Tones own goal just before the first water break left them 2-2 to 1-2 down after 15 minutes. Dunboyne went on to dominate the second quarter and went in at half time leading 3-6 to 1-5, Thomas Blaney keeping the Tones in touch.

After the break Dunboyne continued to dominate, their pacy movement causing the Tones defence a lot of problems and they lead 4-7 to 1-7 at the ¾ stage. A young Tones team were coming out second best in the physical exchanges but gallantly they refused to lie down and staged a mini-revival in the final quarter with Thomas Blaney scoring a second penalty & Tom Gavigan weighing in with a well worked goal & point, however Dunboyne maintained their distance near the finish and closed out the game.

This was a very young & inexperienced Bhulf Ton side and they battled bravely against a strong opposition. Bhulf Ton were well lead by Adam O’Neill, Darragh Canny & Tom Gavigan. Better days lie ahead for all these young players.
