Bhulf Tón 1-14 Dunderry 2-14

Ag dul isteach sa cheathrú deireanach bhí Bhulf Tón seacht gcúilíní chun deiridh agus cé go bhfuair siad sé chúilíní níor éirigh leo sa deireadh.

Tones lost full back Gerry Farrelly to a straight red after 5 minutes but they remained in contention right to the end in the IHC clash played in Kilskyre.

Boosted by a Darragh Canny goal in the 15th minute, Tones led until the 29th minute when they conceded a goal following a long delivery which was gathered by the Dunderry full forward who turned and kicked the ball to the net. Canny’s  goal followed good build up play featuring Stephen Sheppard, Kieran Conway and Gearóid O Brien before his ground shot beat the Dunderry keeper, and brought Canny’s total for the first quarter to 1  02. Following the goal, Dunderry added two further points to leave the half time score Bhulf Tón 1 07 Dunderry 1 10.

The third quarter saw Tones add a point to Dunderry’s two. When Dunderry pushed the margin out to 7 points with a goal in the 47th minute to lead 2 12 to 1  08 it seemed that victory would be theirs. However, Tones made them battle to the end and added six points; Thomas O Reilly (four frees) and a point each from Gary Mc Fadden and Darragh Canny. Dunderry notched two points in reply to leave three between the teams in the end.

This was a very spirited display from Bhulf Tón particularly following the concession of the second half goal with standout performances from Darragh Canny, Thomas O Reilly, Stephen Sheppard Brian Meade and Caolach Halligan.
