Andy McEntee admits Meath face a huge task to make the Super 8s after their crushing Leinster SFC final defeat to Dublin.

Speaking on The Sunday Game, Pat Spillane was quick to write off the Royals' chances of reaching the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals, despite being only one game away from doing so.

"It's a good question, I don't really know the answer," a dejected McEntee said in an interview with RTÉ .

"I guess we'll find out in two weeks' time. The scoreline (1-17 to 0-4) doesn't lie really."

The Meath manager rued his side's tally of 12 wides.

"By half-time we had 11 shots on goal, and they had nine. So our shot selection, and our execution just wasn't good enough. We needed to be taking every chance, and we didn't do that," he continued.

"There's a lot of things we need to work on, but that's one of them. You don't get too many opportunities in a game like that, and when you get them, you've got to be able to take them.

"The score was low enough at half-time, but we certainly should have had more than one score on the board."
