FL Div 4: Moylagh remain at the top

May 24, 2019

Moylagh's Alan McCann

Moylagh 2-12   Kilbride 2-11

This game went down to the last kick of the ball with the visitors coming away with two valuable Div 4 league points to keep their push for promotion on track.

Moylagh started well and hit an early goal when a beautifully weighted ball by Darren Gibney over the Kilbride defence found Rory Gibney who chipped Stephen McMullen the Kilbride keeper to raise the first green flag of the night.

Kilbride’s response was swift with a goal of their own with the next attack with full forward Stephen Walsh fisting the ball to the back of the net.
David O’Leary kept the score board ticking over for the home side with 3 first half points. However Moylagh pushed on with 9 first half points from Sean Reilly (3), Tommy Reilly (3), and 1 each from Tommy Melia, Peter Fox and Rory Gibney to give Moylagh a deserved 1- 9 to 1-4 half time lead.

The second half was an evenly contested affair with both teams enjoying periods of dominance. Moylagh added another goal through Eanna Brody finishing well through a crowed goals and with points from Joe Melia and Alan McCann it looked like Moylagh were on course for a comfortable win. Kilbride had other ideas and popped over 7 second half points  to close the gap. As time was running out Kilbride drove forward and were rewarded with a superbly taken goal to tie the game at 2-11 each. From the resultant kick out Moylagh worked the ball well up the field and with the last kick of the game

Sean Reilly scored a magnificent long range point to secure the win for Moylagh.

This was a very entertaining game of football and both sets of players deserve great credit
