Curraha's Conor Moriarty

Meath Hill 1-16 Curraha 2-14

Curraha made the long trip to Meath Hill on Wednesday evening and came away with both league points following a hard earned victory in an exciting game which had the start delayed due to traffic congestion exiting the M2 motorway.

The North Meath side were first off the mark hitting three unanswered points in the first five minutes.

When Gavin Coyle's attempt for a point came back off the upright in the seventh minute it was Conor Moriarty who reacted fastest to claim his first goal

This did not deter the home side who continued to cause problems in the Curraha defence and added three points before a pointed free from Moriarty and two points in quick succession from David Coyle had the sides level midway through the first half.

A pointed free edged Meath Hill back in front but was immediately cancelled out by a Sean Keogh free at the other end.

A pointed free from Moriarty followed by a wonderful David Toner point and yet another Moriarty free had the visitors leading by three as half time approached, a pointed free from Meath Hill in stoppage time completed the opening half scoring to leave Curraha leading by two at the break.

A Sean Keogh free just following the restart pushed Curraha three ahead but six points from the home side interrupted by a Brian Joyce point gave Meath Hill the advantage as the game entered the final quarter,

Another Toner point and a Moriarty free brought the Ha back to within two points.

A decisive moment followed when Gavin Coyle gained possession and was hauled down in front of goal, Conor Moriarty who was making his return following a lengthy absence due to injury stepped up and fired home the resulting penalty to edge Curraha back in front.

Two more points from Moriarty looked to have sealed the win for Curraha but to their credit Meath Hill fought back and hit three points in the last three minutes of normal time

Curraha  had time to break forward once more and earned a free which the ever reliable Moriarty put over the bar to claim the victory.

A great team effort from Curraha with strong showings from Brian Murphy, Neil Shortall, David Toner, Sean Keogh and Conor O'Farrell.
