B FL Div 4: Syddan get back to wiining ways

March 25, 2019

Syddan's Brian Dillon

SYDDAN 1-15  BALLINABRACKEY 1-13

A GOAL from Gary McManus after 52 minutes proved the decisive score as Syddan got back to winning ways in the B League on Saturday evening.

That goal left Syddan leading 1-13 to 1-8 and while Ballinabrackey responded in the closing minutes with a succession of points the home side held on for a deserved victory.

Ballinabrackey opening score was a goal after just three minutes but Syddan recovered from that setback and led 0-10 to 1-3 at half-time. The Bracks had a chance of a second goal in the early stages but Tommy Meade cleared off the line after his brother Paddy had blocked an earlier effort.

Brian Dillon contributed four points in the half while Darren Smith was on target with three.

Jodi Donoghue increased the lead on the restart before Ballinabrackey reduced the deficit with four third quarter points. Two further points from Brian Dillon left it 0-13 to 1-7.

That goal from McManus from a Dylan Smyth pass left Syddan comfortable but they needed late scores from Eoin Lynch Duff and McManus to get them over the line.
