B FL Div 3: Curraha remain unbeaten

March 25, 2019

Curraha's Sean Keogh

Curraha 1-14 Clann Na Gael 2-03

Curraha made it three wins from three after defeating Clann Na Gael in the Division 3BFL campaign.

Played in perfect conditions in Curraha, the home side made a bright start with points from Gavin Coyle and Sean Keogh. However, the momentum for the home side was soon to change when they were hit a double blow with red cards to Sean O’Hanrahan and Andrew Coyle. This gave Clann Na Gael a great boost and they soon raised a green flag. This was followed by a point to give the away side a two-point advantage. Curraha started to build some momentum despite the numerical disadvantage and the hard-working Keogh was alert to a bad kick out which he slotted to the net. Keogh added further points before Coyle tagged on his second to give his side a 1-08 to 1-01 lead at the break.

It was the Athboy outfit who started the second half the better and added two well taken points but Conor Joyce and Oisin Fay started to get on top in the defence and this gave the platform for Keogh and Coyle to cancel out the early scores. Clann Na Gael never gave up and they soon got their second goal of the game to give them a small glimmer of hope, but it was to be their last score of the game. Keogh added three frees while Jamie Cleary was to round off proceedings with a fine score.

Best for the home side were Joyce, Fay, Niall McLarnon, Keogh and Coyle.

Curraha: L. McCarthy, PJ McMahon, C. Joyce, S. McDermott, O. Fay, S. O’Hanrahan, R. Reid, B. Joyce, N. McLarnon, I. Battersby, S. Keogh (1-9), R. Dwyer, G. Coyle (0-4), A. Coyle. J. Cleary (0-1).
