Longwood continued to pile on the pressure and only for a great save by goalkeeper Tommy Dalton Blackhall Gaels would have been trailing going into the last 15 mins of the game. This save sparked the Gaels back into life and would go on to outscore Longwood 5 points to 3 in the final quarter with some fining scoring from Alan Nestor and Dermot Carty and a super individual effort by midfielder Donnacha Tobin putting the final gloss on a great victory for the Gaels.
Longwood would finish the game very strong and throw everything at the Gaels in injury time to try and save a draw but Blackhall would withhold the onslaught to record their first win of the league campaign and build some important momentum for the ensuing Intermediate football Championship.
