Castletown's Damien Ginnity

A league Division 3 Round 6

Moynalty 0-12   Castletown 2-15

Castletown's winning start in this years A league Division 3 continued in Moynalty on Sunday morning.

The earlier than normal starting time of 10:30am seemed to effect the table toppers and Moynalty started the better and had 3 points from play on the board with 10 minutes gone playing against a stiff wind. To leave it harder on Castletown corner forward Tommy Smith was issued a straight red card in the same minute for an off the ball incident. Kevin Ross opened the Castletown account a free on 13 minutes followed by a point from play for Kenny Smith two minutes later. Almost 25 minutes were played and Moynalty were 5 points to 2 up before a high ball into the Moynalty goal area ended up in the net from goal poacher supreme Damien Ginnitty with his first score of his 2-03 tally. This was the kick Castletown needed and they went on to score 1-03 after that before the half time whistle was blown. Damien Ginnitty got his second goal, a point from play for Barry Smith and two converted frees from Kevin Ross to Moynaltys one remaining first half score to leave it Moynalty 0-06 to Castletown 2-05 at the break.

Castletown turned the screw early on in the second half with points from Kevin Ross 2 frees and Wayne Donegan a point from play also to put the eventual winners 8 points clear. Moynalty then scored 2 frees in a row before Castletown hit a purple patch and scored 5 in a row Kevin Ross from a free on 41 minutes and points from play Darren Finney (44 minutes) Damien Ginnitty (45 and 46 minutes) and Barry Smith on 47 minutes. Damien Ginnitty and Kenny Smith kicked a point each to finish Castletowns scoring to Moynaltys 4 points in reply. The fulltime score was Moynalty 0-12 Castletown 2-15.
