Meath chairman Peter O’Halloran is delighted with the prospect of Pairc Tailteann hosting double-headers involving the Meath senior mens and ladies football teams.

It was announced yesterday that, weather permitting, Meath’s senior ladies footballers will play two of their NFL games (round 2 v Offaly and round 6 v Wicklow) in Pairc Tailteann as double headers with the Royal County’s Allianz FL Division 2 games against Armagh and Fermanagh.

The Drumconrath clubman revealed to hoganstand.com: “In 2018 the scenario was discussed with Fergal Harney, chair of Meath LGFA, but the only suitable date had a clash with Meath GAA having a double header in NFL and NHL.”

Links between the two chairpersons were hardened during the joint successful Feile held last summer when members of both organisations worked closely to ensure the smooth running of the competition in the county as well as successful visits to a number of schools in the county along with Feile sponsor John West and players from both codes.

“We met with Meath LGFA on Monday night to iron out any perceived problems but once there were no clashes with fixtures that meeting was a mere formality,” added O'Halloran.
